Research projects

The Department of Economic Geography in Hanover has made it its goal to investigate the regional economic structural change in countries of differing development levels. The regions to be investigated are situated in industrial, emerging as well as developing countries. Regional focuses are Europe, North America and Southeast and East Asia. The results of the previous research projects, which were typically financed by the German research Foundation (DFG), the GTZ or by the Volkswagen Foundation, can be found in great number in the form of dissertations and articles in scientific journals. The work is mostly theory-based, empirical and is concluded with economic and/or regional political recommendations.
