Research at the Department
Hanover’s Economic Geography primarily researches the regional economic structural change in countries /regions of varying development status (e.g. in Europe, North America, Southeast Asia). Since 2009 the economic geography group in Hanover is a member of "DIME" (= Dynamics of Institutions and Markets in Europe), the EU-funded european excellence cluster on innovation research, started in 2005.
Research fields of Hanover’s Cultural Geography are geographical transformation and development studies, political ecology, labour geography and urban social geography, in particular by using methods of qualitative social research. Regional foci are Germany, South and Central Asia.
